Honey Music Festival

The 2nd Annual Honey Community Music Festival is an exciting event that celebrates the rising stars of Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music performong brings together music lovers of all ages for a day of vibrant performances and engaging musical activities. Named in honor of Honey Scheidt, a cherished and devoted patron of the arts in Memphis, the Honey Music Festival opens the doors of the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center to welcome the community
With a diverse lineup of short performances, guests can expect a wide range of musical genres and styles, showcasing the versatility and skill of the students. The festival offers something for everyone's musical taste, from classical compositions to jazz, contemporary and more. In addition to the performances, the festival provides interactive concerts encouraging audience participation and engagement, educational opportunities, face painting, balloon art and Memphis' favorite mascot Pouncer.

The capstone concert of the Honey Fest is the U.S. film premiere and concert of "Paul Dessau: Let's Hope For The Best", which provides an extraordinary opportunity to immerse oneself in the remarkable life and music of Paul Dessau, a German-Jewish artist. This event combines the film screening, which tells Dessau's captivating story, with a concert featuring a specially arranged selection of his solo, chamber, and ensemble works, curated by Dr. John Cooper, a renowned professor of jazz studies. The film screening and concert will begin at 4 PM.
