What are the required materials?
Students are expected to provide their own instrument for group lessons (except for piano) and daily home practice. Please contact the University of Memphis is you need assistance finding reputable instrument dealers. Students may be required to purchase instructional materials. These materials will be provided at an additional cost to the participant.
What is the refund/cancellation policy?
The Scheidt Extension Program (SEP) refund policy is as follows: 100% refunds will be granted if the registrant cancels two weeks before. A 50% refund will be granted if the registrant cancels a week before their first day of classes. No refunds will be issued if SEP is notified less than 7
days prior to the first-class date.
What about cancellations and make-up lessons?
If a teacher cancels a class for any reason, it will be made up as soon as their schedules allow. If this is not possible, a refund or credit will be issued by the Scheidt Extension Program.
The Scheidt Extension Program has no make-up and no refund policy for students who cancel or do not show up to class for any reason. Your teacher will not be required to make-up a lesson if you ask to reschedule for any reason. Exceptions to the no make-up and no refund policy can be made at the teacher's discretion for absolute emergencies.
Where are the lessons? What about drop-off and pick-up?
Lessons will take place at the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Participants should arrive 10 minutes prior to the class start time to check in at the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center lobby with a staff member. Some classes may occur in the legacy building across the street. If this is the case, a staff member will walk the class in a group across the street to their location. Participants will be walked back to the lobby of the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center once their classes have ended. Checkout will occur in the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center lobby. Parents must enter the building and sign out their child (if under the age of 18). Only adults on the approved transportation list will be allowed to check out minors.
What happens in case of inclement weather/emergency procedures?
If the University of Memphis closes due to weather or any other emergency, all Scheidt Extension classes will be canceled. Classes are not required to be made up by instructors although those that are able may try. Every effort will be made to notify students as soon as possible via email and text of the cancellation.
