"Critical Histories of the Present"
The 35th Spindel Conference will bring together leading scholars engaged in a critical interrogation of the history of various aspects of the present, and bring into conversation a number of different perspectives – including genealogy in the tradition of Nietzsche and Foucault, historical ontology, the history and philosophy of the sciences, anthropology of the contemporary, and decolonial critique.
The conference offers a platform for scholars engaged in an exploration of the philosophical use of history and the historical formation of concepts and practices. The aim is to generate discussions about critical histories of concrete political problems, scientific objects, social theories, etc., as well as to reflect on theoretical, conceptual, methodological, and normative promises and challenges of diagnosing our own present.
