Rameshwari Prasad
Rameshwari Prasad is a dedicated and dynamic professional in the field of public health.
Currently serving as a Substance Use Epidemiologist at the Shelby County Health Department,
she plays a crucial role in monitoring and investigating suspected overdose data through
advanced surveillance systems, providing vital reports to the community. Rameshwari
holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Memphis and an MBBS from
India. As a trained physician, she practiced medicine in India for nearly four years,
gaining extensive experience in both rural and urban hospitals, public health centers,
and non-profit organizations.
Her passion for continuous learning has led her to pursue a PhD in Behavioral and
Social Sciences. She thrives on integrating her academic knowledge into her professional
work, focusing on study design, interventions, evaluation policies, and ethical approaches
in public health through a multidisciplinary lens. Rameshwari's commitment to public
health is evident in her enthusiasm for every aspect of her work and studies. Her
diverse background and ongoing dedication make her a valuable asset to the field,
continually striving to improve community health outcomes.
Tyara Moore
Tyara Moore is a dedicated public health professional pursuing a PhD in Public Health
with a focus on Social and Behavioral Sciences. Currently serving as Special Assistant
to the Division Director/Health Officer at the Shelby County Health Department, she
collaborates on critical public health initiatives and supports diverse departmental
projects. Tyara holds a bachelor's degree in Anthropology with a minor in Spanish
from Kansas State University and a master's in public health with a focus on urban
health development from the University of Memphis.
Throughout her academic and professional career, Tyara has focused on addressing health
disparities in underserved populations. She has worked with Baptist Memorial Health
Care on outreach initiatives, grant writing, and events addressing health inequities.
Tyara has also collaborated with University of Memphis professors to implement sex
education programs targeting the AIDS epidemic in partnership with faith-based organizations.
Additionally, she served as a Graduate Research Assistant, contributing to comprehensive
community health needs assessments with the Methodist Le Bonheur Community Outreach
team. Her leadership extends to mentoring young women, facilitating youth programs,
and volunteering with organizations such as Just City, where she participated in court
watch reporting on the Memphis Judicial System.
Outside of her professional work, Tyara enjoys hiking, journaling, traveling, and
attending live theater performances, which reflect her commitment to creativity, balance,
and personal growth. Tyara’s journey exemplifies resilience, empathy, and a steadfast
commitment to advancing public health and social equity in the communities she serves.
