Academic Preparedness - 2020

Team Charge:
All groups will develop their recommendations consistent with the university's strict need to comply with best federal, state, and local standards. Compliance with those recommendations and requirements will be mandatory for all students, faculty, and staff as well as to visitors to the University. As these are updated, the University will communicate these health requirements and restrictions to all members of the university community. What is purpose of team and what are expected outcomes.

Remote Instruction:
  • The group will review the lessons learned from this semester's unexpected transition to remote instruction. It will solicit experiences about what worked and what problems remain to be addressed in order to be better prepared should the need to move back to remote instruction arise again sometime in the future. Are there some best practices from other universities that we can adopt to enhance our remote instruction? We would like this group to report their recommendations to the Steering Committee for review and implementation.

Risk Mitigation in On-ground Instruction and Research:
  • The group will identify and assess options to mitigate risks in conducting instruction and research in a face-to-face setting. What are best practices considered and/or adopted at other institutions that can help us keep our students, faculty, and staff safe consistent with health requirements as we return to on-ground instruction and research. The group should report their recommendations to the Steering Committee for review and implantation in the departments, colleges, and schools of the university.

Student Success / Student Life:
  • The group will review the lessons learned from this semester regarding student support and student life. It will solicit experiences about what worked, what problems still need to be resolved, and how we can improve our services to students and support student activities remotely. We would also like this group to consider what measures we need to take consistent with health requirements to reduce risk for students, faculty, and staff in face-to-face activities once we return to campus later this summer in preparation for the fall.
