A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS), to strengthen the public health workforce pipeline by increasing the public health knowledge and interests of MSCS elementary school students through public health clubs.

A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS), to strengthen the public health workforce pipeline by increasing the public health knowledge and interests of MSCS middle school students through public health clubs.
High
Public Health Dual Enrollment Graduation Pathway
A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS), to strengthen the public health workforce pipeline by offering high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to complete the Public Health Dual Enrollment college and career pathway and earn 18 hours of free Uof M college credit during high school through the state-funded Dual Enrollment scholarship.
Public Health Experiential Learning Program
(Funded by the CDC OE22-2203: Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant)
A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS) and the Memphis Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., to strengthen the Public Health workforce pipeline by preparing ten (10) high school students annually, via an annual 240-hour hybrid program, to pursue careers in Public Health after post-secondary school graduation.
Undergraduate
Public Health Data Analytics program
(Funded by the CDC OE22-2203: Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant)
A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with CodeCrew, to strengthen the Public Health workforce pipeline by preparing four (4) undergraduate Public Health students, during their junior and senior years, to collect, analyze, and disseminate Public Health data.
PROPOSED Build Informatics (BI) Program
A PROPOSED PH IDEAS capacity building pilot initiative, in partnership with Tulane University, the SCHD, and the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), to expand public health pipeline programs that include service learning or experiential learning components in public health settings to strengthen the Public Health Informatics workforce pipeline by providing 10 UofM SPH ELP graduates annually with summer Informatics training and internships at Tulane University and the SCHD, respectively.
Graduate
SCHD Public Health Scholars
(Funded by the CDC OE22-2203: Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant)
A PH-IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD), to strengthen the Public Health workforce pipeline, retain current Public Health workers, and enhance the public health competencies of current SCHD workers by providing full scholarships and stipends to mitigate the costs associated with returning to school for 18 current SCHD staff to obtain graduate certificates and degrees in Public Health, while maintaining employment at the SCHD.

Community Workshops

A PH IDEAS capacity building initiative, in partnership with six local grassroots agencies, to host quarterly workshops to increase community trust in the SCHD and the UofM SPH and increase empathy in the SCHD front-line managers for their Shelby County clients.
