Foundation Fridays

Opportunity for faculty to learn about optimizing funding from foundations

The Division of Research & Innovation’s Research Development Office and the Office of University Advancement are collaborating to ensure that the University of Memphis faculty are aware of the funding opportunities offered by foundations with a specific interest in funding initiatives in the Memphis/Shelby County area.   

To share this information, Research & Innovation and University Advancement are working together to host a series of webinars known as “Foundation Fridays.”   

Via the “Foundation Fridays” virtual series, executive directors and/or program officers working for foundations that fund work in the Memphis/Shelby County area are featured and provide information about their respective foundation’s history, mission, funding cycles, funding domains, etc. 

During the 2021-22 academic year, representatives from The Spencer Foundation, the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, and the West Cancer Foundation (coming Feb 18, 2022) have participated in the “Foundation Fridays” virtual series.   

To assist the University with furthering foundation partnerships with local/regional foundations, please contact the Office of Research Development at researchdev@memphis.edu, or Matt Walker with Advancement at matt.walker@memphis.edu, about your interest in submitting a proposal to a foundation prior to doing so. This will ensure your proposal is received in a manner that enhances funding success.
