Find Out Friday Series

Government leadership discussing respective departments and funding opportunities

The University of Memphis is committed to providing the highest quality education by focusing on research and service benefiting Memphis and Shelby County. In keeping with this commitment, the Division of Research & Innovation is working to increase partnerships and collaborations between UofM faculty and the Tennessee government.

Recently, the University created the Innovative Nonprofit and Foundation Engaged Research (INFER) program under the University of Memphis Research Foundation (UMRF). The purpose of INFER is to unite research and practice to improve communities and assist the citizens served by the University of Memphis (www.infermemphis.org).

To help bridge the efforts of researchers and the community, INFER has launched a Spring 2022 virtual Find Out Friday series.  The series features leaders from government departments discussing the department's history, mission, funding areas, funding requirements, funding cycles, etc., and taking questions from UofM faculty.

Some of the Tennessee government departments participating in Find Out Friday are:

  • The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (Friday, Feb. 25)
  • The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (Friday, March 4)
  • The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (Friday, March 18)
  • The Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities (Friday, April 1)
  • The Tennessee Department of Homeland Security (Friday, April 22)
