Patents2Products Program Seeking Second Cohort of Postdocs
Learn to be an entrepreneur. License technology. Launch a startup.
The University of Memphis continues to shift the innovation paradigm with our deep science entrepreneur program—Patents2Products (P2P) Postdoctoral Program. The P2P program, a joint venture between the University of Memphis and Epicenter, is designed to hire post-doc fellows to start businesses, utilizing patented intellectual property developed both in Memphis and across the United States, to turn great ideas into successful companies. The P2P program creates a funded position for science entrepreneurs and provides them with the training, tools and guidance needed for launching a successful technology-based startup.
P2P Fellows will be hired into a university position with the UofM, provided salary and state benefits, funds for initial startup costs, as well as licensing rights to intellectual property. Participants will have access to the researchers and labs where the University intellectual property was developed, and will be provided office space, training, and mentorship in the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship. The fellow positions will be appointments to the UofM FedEx Institute of Technology, supported directly by the UofM Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, and will also work closely with community mentors and advisors as they develop their company and business plans. Through the partnership, the fellows will be made aware of and deliberately prepared for funding opportunities as appropriate avenues for their industries of focus.
