Dr. Richard Irwin, Executive Dean of UofM Global in the College of Professional & Liberal Studies and Center for Regional Economic Enrichment, was awarded $1,896,151 from Workforce Midsouth Inc with the U.S. Economic Development Administration for his project “Forward Now.”
Dr. Mitchell Withers, associate research professor in the Center for Earthquake Research and Information, was awarded $716,729 from the U.S. Geological Survey for his project “Operation of the Mid-America Integrated Seismic Network 2020-2024--CERI Year 3.”
Dr. Aaryani Tipitrneni-Sajja, assistant professor in the department of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded $609,976 from the National Science Foundation for her project “CAREER: Open-Access, Real-Time High-Throughput Metabolomics for High-Field and Benchtop NMR for Biological Inquiry.”
Dr. James Murphy, professor in the department of Psychology, was awarded $372,300 from the National Institutes of Health for his project “Behavioral economic and wellness-based approaches for reducing alcohol use and consequences among diverse community-dwelling emerging adults.”
Dr. Gregory Washington, director of the Center for the Advancement and Youth Development program advisor for the Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change African American Male Initiative, and professor in the School of Social Work, was awarded $238,569 from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration for his project “Mobile University Services for Integrated Community Care (MUSICC).”
Dr. William Thompson, associate professor of French and director of International and Global Studies in the department of World Languages and Literatures, was awarded $238,245 from the Tennessee Department of Education for his project “Governor's School for International Studies.”
Dr. Mark LeDoux, affiliate research professor in the department of Psychology, was awarded $215,250 from the National Institutes of Health for his project “Pathobiology of GNAL-Associated Dystonia.”
Dr. Nathan DeYonker, assistant professor in the department of Chemistry, was awarded $179,831 from the National Science Foundation for his project “CAREER: A Model-Building Platform for Rational, Reproducible, and Rigorous Computational Enzymology.”
Dr. Kevin Berisso, assistant professor and AutoID Lab Director in the department of Engineering Technology, was awarded $150,000 from GS1 U.S. Incorporated for his project “GS1 US Bar Code Test Lab.”
Dr. Francisco Muller-Sanchez, assistant professor in the department of Physics and Materials Science, was awarded $119,128 from Space Telescope Science Institute with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for his project “AGN Feeding and Feedback in NGC 4151.”
Dr. Santosh Kumar, Director of the NIH Center of Excellence for Mobile Sensor Data-to-Knowledge (MD2K) and Lillian and Morrie Moss Chair of Excellence Professor in Computer Science, was awarded $114,342 from the National Institutes of Health for his project “mHealth Center for Discovery, Optimization & Translation of Temporally-Precise Interventions (mDOT)” and $79,304 from the University of Utah with the National Institutes of Health for his project “Affective Science and Smoking Cessation: Real Time World Assessment”
Dr. Latrice Pichon, associate professor in the department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, was awarded $107,624 from Vanderbilt University Medical Center with the Center For Disease Control for her project “Implementation of Rapid HIV Testing and Linkage to HIV Treatment or Prevention Among Vulnerable Populations in Tennessee.”
Dr. Mihalis Golias, professor in the department of Civil Engineering, was awarded $99,984 from Florida Atlantic University with the US Department of Transportation for his project “Data Analytics and Support Tools for Inland Waterways.”
Dr. Brian Waldron, associate professor of Civil Engineering and director of Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering (CAESER), was awarded $43,753 from TN Recycle Environmental Energy Services for his project “Service Contract for TREES.”
Dr. Lan Wang, chair and Dunavant Professor in the department of Computer Science, was awarded $35,047 from Peraton Labs Inc. with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for her project “Mission-Integrated Network Control.”
Dr. James Wesley, Pat E. Burlison Professor in the department of Sociology, was awarded $20,000 from the Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis for his project “Evaluation for the Digital Literacy project.”
Dr. Laura Casey, professor in the department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership, was awarded $20,180 from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services with the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration for her project “University of Memphis SMART Center Block Grant.”
Dr. Ashish Joshi, Dean and Distinguished University Professor in the School of Public Health, was awarded $19,000 from the Research Foundation of CUNY with The Open Society Foundations for his project “Training of public health students in regional population health informatics techniques.”
Dr. Philip Kunz, professor in the School of Accountancy, was awarded $10,000 from Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP for his project “PwC Grant.”
Dr. John Sabatini, professor in the department of Institute for Intelligent Systems, was awarded $9,500 from the Trustees of Boston College and the International Association for the Evaluation of Education Achievement for his project “TIMSS/PIRLS Boston College Expert Committee (Part 2).”
Dr. Mohd Ali, associate professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded $5,000 from Electric Power Research Institute with the U.S. Department of Energy for his project “Inductive Coupling and Mobile Energy Disseminator-Based Dynamic Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicles.”
