Dr. Brian Waldron, associate professor in the Department of Engineering and director of the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering, was awarded $9,750,000 from the City of Memphis with the Memphis Light Gas and Water (MLGW) for his project “Aquitard 2.”
Melvyn Harding, director of the TRIO Program, was awarded $558,473 from the U.S. Department of Education (US DoEd) for his projects “TRIO Student Support Service – Classic” and “TRIO Student Support Services-STEM.”
Dr. Susan Neely-Barnes, professor, director and chair of the Department of Social Work, was awarded $475,374 from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for her project “INTEGRATE (INterprofessional TEams GRounded in Apprenticeship, Telehealth, and Evidence).”
Dr. John Williams, professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded $425,298 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for his project “Role of the Infrapatellar Fat Pad in the Development of Post-Traumatic Osteoarthritis Following Blunt Impact to the Knee Joint.”
Dr. Carl Herickhoff, assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded $413,756 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for his project “Transcranial Ultrasound Algorithms and Device for Rapid Stroke Determination by Paramedics,” and $30,000 from the Acoustical Society of America for his project “James E. West Graduate Fellowship.”
Dr. Chrisann Schiro-Geist, professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology & Research, was awarded $375,000 from the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for her project “University of Memphis Tennessee Believes Program.”
Dr. Karen Weddle-West, vice president of Student Academic Success and Director of Diversity Initiatives, was awarded $309,504 from the US Department of Education (US DoEd) for her project ‘University of Memphis Upward Bound.”
Dr. Naomi Eichorn, assistant professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was awarded $191,704 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her project “Information processing biases in adults who stutter: Behavioral and eye-tracking indices of threat-related attention allocation.”
Dr. Leigh Boardman, assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, was awarded $109,564 from the University of Florida with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for her project “be-eDNA/eRNA: Advancing monitoring programs for honeybee pests and pathogens using novel eDNA and eRNA approaches.”
Dr. Richard Bloomer, dean and professor in the College of Health Sciences, was awarded $102,000 from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (US DHHS) for his project “Substance Use Prevention Among Vulnerable Youth.”
Dr. Mark Gillenson, director of the Systems Testing Excellence Program, was awarded $61,500 from Alion Science and Technology with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for his project “Testing & Evaluation Course Instruction and Research in Support of Information Technology Systems.”
Dr. Sabyasachee Mishra, professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, was awarded $50,000 from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville (UTK) with the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his project “NSF Engines: Type-1: Tennessee Technology-Enabled Advanced Mobility Engine(T2EAM-Engine).”
Dr. Hongmei Zhang, EE Division Director, PhD Program Coordinator for Biostatistics, and HSMP Interim Division Director in the Department of Public Health, was awarded $45,580 from the Department of Veterans Affairs for her project “IPA with VA for statistical analysis.”
Dr. Xiaolei Huang, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, was awarded $16,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his project “CRII: III: Metadata-guided Imbalance-Modeling for Robust Computational Healthcare.”
Dr. Diana Delgado, assistant professor in the Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership, was awarded $15,372 from Concord Academy with the Tennessee Department of Education (TDoEd) for her project “Concord Academy Student Placement.”
Dr. Wendy Griswold, associate professor of Higher & Adult Education in the Department of Leadership, was awarded $6,000 from Kansas State University (KSU) with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for her project “Technical Assistant to Brownfields - Yr. 5.”
Dr. Debra Bartelli, research associate professor of Urban Health and the director of Undergraduate Programs, was awarded $5,000 from the Memphis Child Advocacy Center (MCAC) for her project “Memphis Child Advocacy Center Counseling Services Outcome Evaluation.”
Adriana Dunn, assistant director of the Art Museum, was awarded $5,040 from the Studio in a School Association, LLC (Studio Institute) for her project “Studio Institute Summer 2023 Collections Internship.”
Dr. Viktoriya Pleshkan, assistant professor in the Loewenberg College of Nursing, was awarded $5,000 from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners for her project “Phenomenological Study of Preceptors' Experiences with Preparing Nurse Practitioner Students for Autonomous Practice.”
Dr. Angela Martin, LIFE Student Advocate in the Division of UofM Global, was awarded $2,353 from Tennessee Technological University for her project “Complete Feasibility Study for MS in Child Life.”
Dr. Charles Garner, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, was awarded $2,302.96 from SweetBio, Incorporated for his project “Developing a simple analysis for traces of carbodiimides.
