Dr. Ashish Joshi, dean and Distinguished University Professor in the School of Public Health, was awarded $8,739,721 from the Shelby County Health Department with the Centers for Disease Control for his project “Center for Public Health Informatics, Data, Equity, Analytics, and Systems.”
Dr. Santosh Kumar, director of NIH Center of Excellence Mobile Sensor Data-to-Knowledge, and Lillian and Morrie Moss Chair of Excellence Professor in the Department of Computer Science was awarded $1,029,078 from the National Institutes of Health for his project “mHealth Center for Discovery, Optimization & Translation of Temporally-Precise Interventions.”
Dr. Christos Papadopoulos, professor and Sparks Family Chair of Excellence in Global Research Leadership in the Department of Computer Science, was awarded $559,647 from the National Science Foundation for his project “CICI: RSSD: LaSIC: Labeled Security Information Capture.”
Dr. Stephanie Ivey, associate dean for research and professor in the Department of Civil Engineering was awarded $195,002 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for her project “ITSPCB 23-24, $55,000 from the Transportation Research Board with the National Academy of Sciences for her project “Assessing the relative contributions of fluid pressure and elastic stress to induced seismic energy release,” and $38,000 from the Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis for her project “Girls Experiencing Engineering 2022-23.”
Dr. Matthew Smeltzer, associate professor in the Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Environmental Health, was awarded $125,147 from the Baptist Cancer Center with the National Institutes of Health for his project “Improving pathologic nodal staging of resected lung cancer.”
Dr. Radesh Palakurthi, IHG Endowed Chair of Excellence, professor and dean in the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management, was awarded $94,000 from Shelby County Schools for his project “Culinary Arts Curriculum Development for SCS.”
Dr. Demetria Frank, visiting Herff Chair of Excellence, Associate Dean for Diversity & Inclusion, director and professor in the School of Law was awarded $75,000 from the Law School Admission Council for her project “LSAC PLUS Program.”
Dr. Elena Delavega, professor in the Department of Social Work, was awarded $60,000 from the Church Health Center of Memphis for her project “Improving Behavioral Healthcare for the Latinx Community in Memphis.”
Dr. Randolph Dupont, professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, was awarded $45,000 from the City of Memphis Police Department with the State of Tennessee for his project “City of Memphis Police CIS.”
Dr. James McCutcheon, associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, was awarded $11,227 from the City of Memphis Police Department with the U.S. Department of Justice for his project “Evaluation of Sexual Assault Kit Testing.”
Dr. James Murphy, professor in the Department of Psychology, was awarded $11,120.33 from the University of Kansas Center for Research with the National Institutes of Health for his project “Using Neuroeconomics to Characterize State-Based Increases and Decreases in Alcohol Value.”
Dr. Napoleon Overton, assistant professor of Teaching in the Fogelman College of Business Economics, was awarded $5,452 from the Tennessee Valley Authority for his project “TVA Investment Challenge Award.”
