Arts & Health Research Team Grant
Submission guidelines for the fall 2023 cycle. Deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 10.
The CCFA Research Committee welcomes teams of faculty in all units at the University of Memphis to apply for an Arts & Health Research Team Grant. These grants, awarding up to $2500 each, will support collaborative, team research projects that are a) interdisciplinary in scope and b) related to the mission of the Institute for Arts and Health.
Research Teams must include the following:
- At least one artist/arts practitioner or arts organization
- At least full-time tenured faculty or tenure-track faculty member at the University
of Memphis
- Other team members may be non-tenure track faculty, students, or community partners.
- Teams with members from several academic units are encouraged and mixed faculty-student teams are encouraged.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND SUBMISSION DEADLINE
The application should consist of one PDF file that includes the following required components:
- A list of all members of the research team, with brief (2-3 sentence) explanation of the qualifications and contributions of each.
- Proposal/Project description. Provide a concise overview of your project (max. 3 pages), including a timeline for implementation.
- Budget Explanation/Justification
- Supporting Documents (if applicable)

Timeline Stipulations
Projects should be realized during the current academic year, completed by May 2024.
Budget Stipulations
Teams should provide a concise budget that outlines how the funds (up to $2500) will be utilized. Approved expenditures include, but are not limited to the following: Travel to complete research; purchase of equipment, supplies, or data; incentives for survey/focus group participation.
Funding may not be used for supplemental faculty salary, travel to conferences, or to cover the cost of tuition for students.
SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The CCFA Dean will award all AHRT Grants upon recommendation by the college Research Committee. Criteria used in evaluating proposals include:
- Significance and perceived impact of the project
- Approach and feasibility (if the project can be completed in the timeline proposed and under budget)
- Fit with the scope of this opportunity
- Is it an interdisciplinary team project?
- Does the research fit the mission of the Institute for Arts and Health?
- Does the research team include an artist/performer/arts practitioner?
