University of Memphis Digital Commons
Building a vibrant and diverse digital repository for the University of Memphis community
As a service of the University Libraries, the University of Memphis Digital Commons provides a digital platform for showcasing and preserving the research and scholarship of the University of Memphis community. University of Memphis publications already in the Digital Commons include Special Collections, Government Publications, Theses and Dissertations, Open Access Journals, Faculty Publications and much more.
In the Spring of 2021, the University of Libraries at the University of Memphis acquired bepress Digital Commons for the purposes of enhancing access to the University Libraries Special Collections and Government Publications. However, what began as solution for materials housed at the University Libraries has expanded to include items from every department on campus. As of January 2024, the Digital Commons holds over 35,000 works that have been downloaded over 350,000 times in over 200 countries.
The University Libraries invites faculty and students to place their works into the Digital Commons. This placement will immediately provide far greater exposure and heightened awareness of all the good things we do and plan for the University. By joining the University of Memphis Digital Commons, faculty and students would enjoy the following benefits:
- Global publication to the Digital Commons Network of 16,000+ institutions world-wide in more than 160 countries.
- Unlimited digital space including unlimited storage space, file sizes and types.
- Permanent, archival retention independent of third parties.
- Access to performance metrics, including readership distribution worldwide, downloads, streams, and PlumX Metrics.
- Consultation and Support from the University Libraries and bepress
- Improved discoverability so that research content is picked up and moved to the top of the search results list in Google, Google Scholar, and other major search engines.
