Professor Receives DVM Honorary Membership
Fatemi honored for his outstanding contributions in innovative research and international co-operation
Ali Fatemi, Ring Companies Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering, received the DVM Honorary Membership in appreciation and recognition of his outstanding contributions in innovative research and international co-operation. DVM (Deutscher Verband für Materialforschung und –prüfung e.V.) is the German Association for Materials Research and Testing and is one of the oldest (founded in 1896) and the largest materials research organization in Europe. According to their website, DVM Honorary Membership is awarded to internationally recognized personalities who are pioneering in their respective fields of work. Fatemi was recognized for the membership at an award ceremony during the Fifth International Conference on Material and Component Performance under Variable Amplitude Loading (VAL5) in June 2024 in Dresden, Germany. Subsequent to the ceremony, he gave an honorary lecture on fatigue and fracture performance and predictive modeling of additively manufactured metals, based on his current research funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
