Dr. Eddie Jacobs, professor of Electrical Computer Engineering and Center for Applied Earth Science
and Engineering Research (CAESER), was awarded $9,203,213 from the Office of Naval
Research (ONR) for his project “UxS Degraded Environment Facility”.
Dr. Janey Camp, research professor and associate director of adaptation and resilience for the Center
for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER), was awarded $871,696
from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for her project “NEXT Generation Inclusion
Consortium (NIC) for Building the Food, Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Human
Sciences Pipeline (FANHP)”.
Dr. M. David Rudd, distinguished professor in the Department of Psychology, was awarded $513,967 from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for his project “Examining
the Efficacy of a Digital Therapeutic to Prevent Suicidal Behaviors”.
Dr. Rebecca Adams, professor, coordinator of Applied Linguistics in the Department of English, was awarded $503,580 from US Department of Education (US DoEd) for her project “Ensuring
Success for English Language Learners”.
Dr. Sarah Leat, assistant professor in the department of social work, was awarded $336,116 from Health
Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for her project “Peers Engaging and Empowering
Recovery (PEER)”.
Dr. Lan Wang, professor (on Temporary Assignment at NSF as Program Director) in the department of
Computer Science, was awarded $267,761 from National Science Foundation (NSF) for
her project “IPA- Dr. Lan Wang”.
Dr. Daniel Nascimento, assistant professor in the department of chemistry, was awarded $260,938 from National Science Foundation (NSF) for her project “Collaborative
Research: Software Infrastructure for Next-Generation Quantum Chemistry”.
Dr. Sabya Mishra, professor in the department of Civil Engineering, was awarded $249,000 from (New Prime)
Federal Highway Administration for his project “Influencing Mode Shift Through Behavioral
Change Strategies - Phase II”.
Dr. Mary Tucker, chief policy & compliance officer with the University Schools, was awarded $225,000
from Tennessee Department of Safety for her project “Statewide School Resource Officer
(SRO) Grant Program”.
Dr. Naomi Eichorn, assistant professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was awarded
$180,720 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her project “Information
processing biases in adults who stutter: Behavioral and eye-tracking indices of threat-related
attention allocation”.
Dr. Santosh Kumar, director, NIH mDOT Center, director, MD2K Center of Excellence, and Lillian and Morrie
Moss Chair of Excellence Professor in department of Computer Science, was awarded
$144,998 from National Institutes of Health (NIH) for his project “mHealth Center
for Discovery, Optimization & Translation of Temporally-Precise Interventions (mDOT)”.
Dr. Bonny Banerjee, associate professor Institute for Intelligent Systems & Electrical and Computer
Engineering in the Herff College of Engineering, was awarded $140,000 from U.S. Department
of Defense (DoD) for his project “Wearable Technologies for Physiological Monitoring
Open Topic”.
Dr. Timothy Brewster, associate professor, Department of Chemistry, was awarded $125,000 from the American
Chemical Society (ACS) for his project “Catalytic C-H Functionalization of Partially
Fluorinated Aromatics Using a Chromium Tricarbonyl Activator”.
Dr. Mitchell Withers, associate research professor for the Center for Earthquake Research and Information,
was awarded $118,665 from US Geological Survey (USGS) for his project “Operation of
the Mid-America Integrated Seismic Network 2020-2024-CERI”.
Dr. Debra Bartelli, research associate professor of Urban Health for the School of Public Health, was
awarded $111,391 from Elevance Health Foundation for her project “Food as Medicine
Project”.
Dr. Benjamin Keller, assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science, was awarded
$100,401 from National Aeronautics and Space Admin (NASA) for his project “Portable
and Reproducible Initial Conditions for Galaxy Simulations”.
Dr. Thomas Goebal, assistant professor for the Center for Earthquake Research and Information was awarded
$82,927 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his project “CAREER: From slow
to fast, micro to macro, single events to cascades: A multi-scale study of seismic
event triggering in lab and nature”.
Dr. Todd Zoblotsky, research director in the Center for Research in Educational Policy (CREP), was awarded
$77,000 from Tennessee Higher Education Initiative (THEI) for his project “Higher
Education in Prison (HEP) Evaluation”.
Dr. Thouraya Al-Nasser, clinical assistant professor & director of clinical services in the Department of
Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (ICL), was awarded $ 60,000 from Paris Special
School District for her project “Paris School District Teacher ABA Training”.
Dr. James Murphy, professor in the Department of Psychology was awarded $51,974 from the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) for his project “Reaching Non-Four-Year College Emerging
Adults with Brief Alcohol Interventions: An Investigation of Service User Preferences
and Implementation Determinants”.
Dr. Debra Burns, dean in the College of Communication and Fine Arts was awarded $50,000 from the
National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her project “Music mechanisms and technologies
network: Integrative models to address pain through music”.
Dr. Xichen Mou, assistant professor, Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Environmental
Health in the School of Public Health was awarded $45,806 from First 8 Memphis LLC
for his project “First 8 Memphis Pre-K Performance-Based Project”.
Dr. Stephanie Ivey, professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, was awarded $44,581 from Battelle
for her project “TSIN - West TN STEM Hub”.
Dr. Krystal Laryea, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology was awarded $35,500 from University
of Notre Dame for her project “NDIAS Faculty Fellowship”.
Dr. Debra Bartelli, research associate professor of Urban Health in the School of Public Health, was awarded
$31,205 from Shelby County Government for her project “Lead Environmental Scan and
Accountability Map”.
Dr. Susan Neely-Barnes, professor director chair in the School of Social Work, was awarded $20,000 from Health
Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for her project “Memphis Social Work
Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (MSW-SDS)”.
Dr. Emily Srisarajivakul, assistant professor in the department of Psychology, was awarded $8,150 from the Society for
the Study of School Psychology (SSSP) for her project “Development and Validation
of the Multidimensional Cultural Assessment System”.
Dr. Joah Williams, associate professor in the department of Psychology, was awarded $7,000 from Jackson
County, Missouri for his project “RISE: Responsive Individualized Support and Early
Intervention”.
Dr. Emily Puckett, associate professor in the Department of Biological Studies, was awarded $5,740 from
the US Fish & Wildlife Service for his project “Landscape Genomics within a Sympatric
Population of Brown (Ursus arctos) and American Black (U. americanus) Bears in Southeast
Alaska”.
Dr. Xichen Mou, assistant professor, Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Environmental
Health in the School of Public Health was awarded $5,000 from SciPinion, LLC for his
project “SciTask: Statistical Analysis of NHANES Biomarker Data”.
