On February 27th, the Division of Research & Innovation continued its Lab Open House series by highlighting the innovative work and resources of the Institute for Agricultural and Conservation Research & Education (ACRE). The event brought together faculty, students, and community partners for a closer look at how ACRE is advancing research in agriculture, sustainability, and conservation.
ACRE serves as a collaborative hub for scientists, engineers, farmers, and students working to solve critical challenges in food systems, environmental conservation, and agricultural innovation. With a mission to align closely with industry needs, the Institute is helping to position Memphis and the surrounding region as a center of excellence in agricultural research. ACRE is also committed to training the next generation of leaders by attracting a diverse and talented student body passionate about creating a sustainable future.
During the open house, attendees had the opportunity to tour several of ACRE’s key facilities, including the Biosciences Shared Resource Lab, the Seed Bank and Plant Genetic Resources Lab, the herbarium, and the greenhouse. These spaces showcased the Institute’s cutting-edge capabilities and ongoing research that supports both academic inquiry and practical application in the field.
