The SMART Center is dedicated to developing the next generation of mental health professionals through high-quality training, supervision, and hands-on experience. As a research, training, and treatment clinic within the University of Memphis School of Social Work, we provide meaningful opportunities for students and early-career clinicians to grow their skills and advance their careers.

 

🎓Intership Opportunities

 

The SMART Center offers clinical internship placements for graduate students enrolled in programs such as social work, counseling, psychology, and other related fields.

Interns receive comprehensive supervision, structured training, and ongoing support in both in-person and tele-behavioral health services.

Internship experiences include:

  • Direct client interaction
  • Session observation and co-facilitation
  • Training in evidence-based, trauma-informed practices
  • Exposure to play therapy, CBT, and school-based interventions

Interns are part of a collaborative team environment designed to promote confidence, skill development, and professional growth.

👩‍⚕️Clinical Supervision 

 

The SMART Center partners with Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSWs) seeking to advance their clinical careers and work toward licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs).

 

We offer:

  • High-quality clinical supervision
  • Opportunities to provide direct services
  • Support in developing clinical expertise
  • Experience in trauma-informed and evidence-based care

🏫 School Social Work Certification (LSSW)

 

The Graduate Certificate in School Social Work provides a flexible pathway for MSW students and graduates to pursue licensure as a School Social Worker (LSSW).

 

This program helps participants:
