School Social Worker License (LSSW)

Are you interested in obtaining your school of social work license?

The Graduate Certificate in School Social Work offers current MSW students and MSW graduates a flexible pathway to earning licensure as a School Social Worker. Designed to complement your social work training, this certificate equips you with the specialized skills needed to support students, families, and school communities.

If you’re pursuing licensure in Tennessee, we encourage you to connect with the department for the most up‑to‑date state requirements, including information on testing (Tennessee does not currently require an exam for School Social Work licensure, though this may change). Planning to work in another state? Be sure to check that state’s licensing guidelines so you can tailor your coursework accordingly.

This certificate is an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise, expand your career options, and make a meaningful impact in educational settings.
