Welcome to DRS!

Disability Resources for Students is a part of the Division of Student Affairs, whose motto is: Students Learning through Engagement and Involvement.

The University of Memphis is committed to providing equal opportunity and challenge to all academically qualified students with disabilities and is compliant with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. From 800 to 900 students per year are registered with Disability Resources for Students; the students have a variety of disabilities, including mobility, visual and hearing impairments, a variety of chronic health disorders, psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and substance abuse.

DRS Goals

  • Assist students to establish a connection to the University of Memphis.
  • Improve student access to and use of Assistive Technology (AT) to increase academic access and success.
  • Assist students to identify, develop and demonstrate the career competencies necessary for success in their chosen fields.
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of disability across the University of Memphis community.
  • Increase retention and graduation rates of students with disabilities through intentional coaching.
