Baptist Collegiate Ministry

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) is a ministry for all University of Memphis students. Sponsored by Baptist Churches and the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, this ministry provides a great atmosphere in which students can connect with God and others, grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ and serve the community both locally and internationally. Weekly opportunities include FLOW (Free lunch on Wednesdays); FOCUS (our Thursday night large group gathering at 7pm); and FAMILY GROUPS (student-led small groups that meet at various times and locations on campus). Mission/Service Trips are an amazing way to serve others and grow close to a team. During Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer, we have opportunities to travel all over the world. Fun takes place too - Annual events such as Freshmen SurThrival Weekend, Fall IN-TENTS Retreat, Booyah (Halloween Dance), Bonfires, cookouts, Spring Leadership Retreat and Formal are favorites with students. It's easy to get involved. Just show up for Lunch on Wednesday or Thursday night FOCUS.

Campus Outreach is a ministry built on relationships. It is through these life-on-life relationships that college students come to know Christ, mature in their relationship with Him, and share their lives and faith with others through evangelism and discipleship. The influence of Campus Outreach does not end at graduation. The success of our vision is measured best by the students graduate and carry the vision of following Christ and reaching world for Him!

Campus Ministry represents the Diocese of Memphis to the colleges and universities located within the diocese. Through campus ministry we seek to evangelize the academic community by means of a broad ministry which forms the faith community, appropriates the faith, forms Christian conscience, educates for justice, facilitates personal development, and develops leaders for the future.

We offer plenty of opportunities for students' personal prayer and reflection. We celebrate the Mass six days a week: Sunday at 5:00 pm with a free dinner to follow, Monday through Thursday at 4:30 pm, and Friday at 12:00 pm. Eucharistic Adoration is available every Thursday from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm. And join us for Encounter every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm for an hour of praise and worship music, a reflection, and silent prayer. The Catholic Student Center is located at 3625 Mynders Avenue.

What does UKirk mean? UKirk means University Church. The U stands for University, and Kirk is a Scottish word for church.

What is UKirk? UKirk is a nationwide campus ministry affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) that seeks to reach, love, and teach college students to be lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. In Memphis, UKirk serves the students of Rhodes College and the University of Memphis. We are an open and affirming ministry where questions are valued, and authentic conversation is encouraged. We gather for worship, discussion, and dinner weekly, a spiritual retreat in the fall, and attend the Montreat College Conference in January. We also participate in service activities throughout the year, contributing to the broader Memphis community.

How do I get involved? Come join us! We meet on Thursdays during the school year at 6:00PM at the UKirk house on the University of Memphis campus, at 449 South Patterson St. We would love to see you!
