Herff College of Engineering

Student Services: Design Lab

Herff Design Lab

The Design Lab is available to students who need to collaborate with peers. You can work on a project for class, study as a group or practice a presentation. A schedule is posted in the lab should you need assistance from one of the student lab workers. All students must receive training before using any of the equipment in the lab, and all equipment must remain in the lab. The lab has equipment available for checkout to help with classroom assignments and projects.

  • Small Scale Fabrication Area – ERIC 111
  • Large Scale Fabrication Area – ERIC 105
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

The entrance to both spaces is through ERIC 111.

Consumables

Design Lab

In most cases, the Design Lab provides the consumables needed to complete class assignments and projects, including PLA and PETG filament for 3D printing. The one exception is personal (non-class) 3D printing projects, students are responsible for supplying their own filament for personal use.

3D Printing Orientation

Each fall and spring semester, the Design Lab holds 3D printing orientation sessions. After completing an orientation, students are cleared to use the 3D printers on their own. Keep an eye on your email for an announcement with sign-up details to reserve a session.
