Cooperative Information for Employers

Is your company looking for motivated, qualified engineering staff members?

WHAT IS CO-OP?
A cooperative education program, or co-op, allows mechanical engineering students to alternate periods of academic study with full-time periods of paid work experience related to their academic and professional goals.

BENEFITS OF YOUR ORGANIZATION'S PARTICIPATION IN THE CO·OP PROGRAM:

Hiring engineering co-op students can be a meaningful and costeffective strategy to infuse your organization with talent and fresh ideas. Our students make a great addition to your team and are a solid investment for your organization. From big business to small local companies, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Memphis is excited to help you establish a Co-op program today!

Through the Mechanical Engineering Co-op Program Your Organization Can:

  • Access a pool of highly skilled and qualified individuals who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering
  • Reduce your recruitment and training costs
  • Fill temporary or short-term staffing needs
  • Develop and train your future employees
  • Build your company's reputation as a leader in your field
  • Strengthen your partnership with the UofM

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
Participating companies will coordinate with the University to facilitate an immersive work experience for the students in the program. As an employer, we know you are busy, and your time is limited. We are here to help facilitate a successful co-op program. The co-op coordinator at the University of Memphis will assist with posting your position, sending resumes and scheduling interviews.

In addition, throughout the co-op experience, a system of evaluation and reporting is in place so all parties - the employer, the student and the University - are informed of the student's progress.

If your company is interested in participating in the co-op program or would like more information, it's easy to get started. Please reach out to our co-op coordinator listed to the left. We look forward to working with you!
