PUBLIC INTEREST LAW CERTIFICATE

The Public Interest Law Certificate program offers students a focused academic experience in public interest law. Through specialized coursework, clinical experiences, and pro bono work, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers serving the public, particularly in serving disadvantaged groups and vulnerable populations. Earning this certificate demonstrates a student's commitment to public service and enhances their marketability when seeking employment in public interest or public aid organizations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Increase awareness of social justice issues and their legal implications. Students will develop a deeper understanding of legally protected rights and interests, systemic inequalities, and the role of law in addressing them.
  2. Develop a strong foundation of knowledge in relevant areas of public interest law.
  3. Gain experience through clinical placements or pro bono work, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world legal challenges.

How to Enroll

A student enrolls by submitting the Certificate Declaration Form.  After you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email from the certificate advisor providing next steps for enrollment.
