Hearing Aids

Better Living through Better Hearing

At the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to better hearing. We work with our patients to understand what will work best for them to improve their hearing and communication in their own lives. Our services are patient-centered and based on the best-available research. This means that we use best practices like real-ear measurements for every patient who wears hearing aids and offer clear and unbundled pricing so that patients can understand what they are paying for.

Where do we start?

Assessment of Communication Needs

After establishing a baseline of your hearing abilities, we will help you to decide what you want to do to improve your hearing. We want to know what your priorities for better hearing include.  We invite you to bring along the person that you communicate with most often to help with this process. This information will help us decide together which treatment options are best for you.

What are my treatment options?

Hearing aids

Hearing aids are ear-worn devices that amplify sound. Hearing aids are the most common treatment option for hearing-related problems. They are often used together with other Hearing Assistive Technologies and Audiologic Rehabilitation to maximize their benefit.

Hearing Aid Selection and Fitting

Selecting a new hearing aid

If you choose to get new hearing aids, our audiologists will help you decide what types of hearing devices and services will work best to meet your needs.  Our audiologists are experienced with hearing aids from all the major hearing aid manufacturers to assist you.

Servicing an older hearing aid

If you purchased hearing aids elsewhere and are not satisfied with their performance, we are happy to work with the devices that you have to optimize your experience with them. Our audiologists are able to service hearing aids from all of the major hearing aid manufacturers.

Fitting your hearing aid

No matter what device you use, our clinic uses the latest equipment and protocols to ensure that your hearing aids are optimally fit to your hearing abilities and ear canal acoustics.  These steps are crucial to achieve the best performance from a hearing aid.

Hearing Aid Follow-up, Servicing, and Repair

Over time, most hearing aids will require service and repair.  Memphis Speech and Hearing offers a full range of services to clean, replace damaged parts, and maintain your hearing aids.  Should your aids require replacement of internal circuitry or other parts, we are happy to take care of sending them back to the manufacturer for you.  Upon their return, we will complete a careful and thorough analysis to ensure that they are functioning properly.

We are also able to reprogram hearing aids when needed.  As hearing loss tends to change over time, your hearing aids will need to be readjusted to compensate.  This will generally be sufficient to allow your aids to serve you for their full lifespan rather than simply replacing them due to small changes in hearing.

What hearing aid brands does MSHC work with?

Our clinic works will all of the major hearing aid manufacturers, including but not limited to: Phonak, Unitron, Oticon, ReSound, Starkey, Signia, Widex, and Rexton.
