Awarded best evidence-based poster for the Trauma Center Association of America

The Trauma Center Association of America (TCAA) is an organization that focuses on providing access of top-quality trauma care for all. They do this through innovation, collaboration, and inclusion practices. The Trauma Center Association of America's annual conference spotlights innovation and excellence in healthcare; particularly with their best practices poster sessions.

The University of Memphis's BRAIN Center team was awarded the title of Best Evidence-Based Poster for the transformative Hurt2Healing program. The Brain Center Memphis has pioneered a pediatric hospital-based integrated behavioral health model that is the first of its kind. In a sample of pediatric trauma patients, nearly 65% of pediatric trauma patients met the diagnostic criteria for Acute Stress Disorder. To mitigate the mental health effects of traumatic injury, they have created training & tools to treat trauma & acute stress disorder at the hospital bedside.

The Hurt-2-Healing Program, the nation's first, hospital-based, integrated pediatric behavioral health model for pediatric trauma patients, has had tremendous success, serving over 3,000 patients and families across the Midsouth. Over 30 mental health counseling students have been trained in the innovative model while conducting over 4,000 counseling sessions to date. The BRAIN Center Memphis continues to contribute to the literature surrounding pediatric trauma, mental health, and trauma informed care by publishing several peer reviewed journal articles.

The BRAIN Center Memphis sets a formidable standard in holistic patient support, reaffirming the profound impact of evidence-backed interventions in healthcare.
