Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems
Meeting the evolving needs of Shelby County residents to improve public health capacity locally and regionally
The School of Public Health is collaborating with Shelby County Health Department towards strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems. This recently funded CDC funded project will implement a multi-pronged approach to address evolving and complex needs of Shelby County residents and have lasting effects on public health capacity and systems within Shelby County and across the region using data-driven strategies. We will (a) work with our community partners to organize quarterly health department and community trainings to be determined by the results of the annual needs assessment; (b) assist SCHD with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) efforts; (c) compile data from multiple sources, import the data into the relevant database, and create reports to validate data quality; (d) identify SCHD systems processes, and foundational needs and submit funding requests to meet identified needs and administer funded programming; (e) design, implement, and review a Population Health Data Analytics workforce pipeline program; (f) provide SCHD with trainings and consultations to improve foundational capacity.
The collaboration with the Shelby County Health Department advances public health through a trained and dedicated workforce with the essential knowledge and skills to respond to current and emerging public health needs.
