Tiger Family Resources: Books & Technology

 

The Official University of Memphis Bookstore offers a convenient place for students to prepare for classes. The UofM Bookstore offers a large textbook department featuring rental, used and new textbooks. Additionally, they have course materials, school supplies, Tiger gear, technology products and more.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides customer-focused IT support and services. Students have access to free IT support for all campus IT services, such as:

  • Email
  • Internet connectivity
  • Student portal (MyMemphis)
  • And more

UofM Bookstore

The UofM Bookstore is your student’s one-stop resource for all course material needs. Students can easily order textbooks and course materials online or purchase in-store. The UofM Bookstore also offers technology discounts on laptops and software licenses. Plus, the Bookstore is a convenient place for Tiger gear, school supplies, computer products, gifts and more!

  • Place a textbook order online. Your student can order textbooks and course materials online before arriving on-campus. Students can use their schedule to look up the required and recommended books for each of their classes. Orders can be placed in advance and all materials will be packaged and ready for pick up prior to classes beginning. It is a quick and efficient way to make sure that your student has all the books that they need. 
  • Rent textbooks to save money. Students can highlight and make notes in rental books from the UofM Bookstore. If they rent a book and decide to keep it, no problem! Textbooks can be purchased at the end of the term for the difference between the rental and retail prices - no additional fees! Students need to return rental books on time to avoid extra costs. Software

Students have access to Microsoft Office 365. This includes downloads of Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 

umApps provides easy, web-based access to a variety of specialized applications such as SPSS, Mathematica, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and many more. University students can access the software from any PC or Mac, on and off campus.

Wi Fi

Students have access to free, reliable wireless internet across campus. Students will us their UUID and password to log into the um wireless network. 

Students living in a residence hall have access to wireless and wired internet for no additional cost. ResNet is also available to troubleshoot technical issues. 

Printing

Enrolled students receive a printing allotment of 500 pages per semester to use for the term. The 500-page semester allotment is available the Friday before the semester begins. Any unused pages at the end of the semester are non-refundable and do not roll over to the next semester. If they need additional pages, students can purchased in increments of 100 pages for $5. 

Students can utilize Mobility Print to print any document directly from iOS, Windows, MacOS, Android, and Chrome devices to a computer lab or smart classroom that is convenient to them. 

Computer Labs & Facilities

Students have access to computer labs across campus for their technology needs and can use the technology finder to find the one closest to them. The main computer labs, The Tech Hub, located in 265 University Center, and the McWherter Library Learning Commons, both have extended hours for increased accessibility.
