Racine à l'école républicaine ou les enjeux socio-politiques de la tragédie classique (1800-1950)

by Ralph Albanese

Dr. Albanese' most recent book on Racine, published in 2013 by L'Harmattan : Racine à l'école républicaine ou les enjeux socio-politiques de la tragédie classique (1800-1950). The book deals with the critical reception of Racine in nineteenth-century France, with particular emphasis on the Third Republic and beyond. It focuses more specifically on the transformation of university criticism on the French playwright to school discourse on his work.
