Dr. Judith C. Simon Accepts Certification for U of M Renewal of CAE-R

Dr. Judith C. Simon, professor of Management Information Systems and co-director of the Center for Information Assurance, accepted the certificate of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security's selection to renew the U of M's designation as the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research (CAE-R). The designation is renewed through academic year 2021.

The Center for Information Assurance was established at the University in 2004 through the collaboration of the Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, and Criminology and Criminal Justice departments. The Center is active in the advancement of Information Assurance education on campus, focusing on issues that threaten our nation's critical infrastructure and working toward providing solutions that enhance both local and national cyber security efforts. At the forefront of The Center are research, education, and outreach on Information Assurance in the region.

Dr. Simon accepted the certification at the 19th Annual Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) earlier this month in Las Vegas, NV.
