Janis Lamar receives the Harriet R. Montgomery Customer Service Excellence Award

For release:  September 15, 2016

Janis Lamar, administrative secretary in the Department of Economics, recently received the Harriet R. Montgomery Customer Service Excellence Award. Janis is an integral part of not only the department of Economics, but of FCBE as a whole. This was demonstrated by the numerous letters of nomination submitted on her behalf for this award.

The Harriet R. Montgomery Customer Service Excellence Award was established through the University of Memphis Foundation upon Harriet R. Montgomery's retirement in recognition for her many years of service to the University of Memphis. This award recognizes University staff members who consistently demonstrate a commitment to the highest levels of customer service excellence. Each month, the University community will have an opportunity to nominate colleagues from a specific division/area of the University. The monthly recipients are, then, recognized during the following year's Excellence Awards event.

"Janis knows everything and everyone," said Dr. Bill Smith, chair of the Department of Economics. "If you need to get something done, she can do it, or find out how to do it. She is extraordinarily proactive. She anticipates problems ahead of time and shoulders responsibilities that go beyond the call of duty. Administrative life has become much easier for all of us since she took the reins."
