Dr. Kenton B. Walker Set to Retire

Dr. Damon Fleming, Dean of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics and Professor of the Crews School of Accountancy, University of Memphis, recently announced the retirement of Dr. Kenton B. Walker, Director of the Crews School of Accountancy and George Johnson Distinguished Professor of Accounting, at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Dr. Walker served the Fogelman College of Business and Economics (FCBE) and the University of Memphis for over 7 years. He helped create a culture of academic excellence and student success for the Crews School of Accountancy, and made significant contributions related to AACSB accreditation and community engagement.

“I have really enjoyed working with the new assistant professors that we hired,” said Dr. Walker. “The Crews School of Accountancy is off to a solid start with stability and excellent talent.”

“Kenton was helpful and collaborative, and his contributions to Fogelman will be deeply missed,” said Dean Damon Fleming.

Prior to joining FCBE, Dr. Walker was on faculty at the University of Wyoming for 24 years and 4 years as Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance. He received his PhD from Texas A&M University.

Retirement for Dr. Walker will be relocating to Buffalo, Wyoming along with traveling, reading, golfing and exploring the wide-open spaces of Wyoming.
