Student Financial Appeals
Appeals for any fee, charge, refund, or calculation relating to registration fees must be submitted by the student within one year of the term in which the fee assessment was made. The following deadlines will apply:
- Spring semester appeals - May 1 of the following year
- Summer semester appeals - August 1 of the following year
- Fall semester appeals - December 1 of the following year
Appeal requests must be received by the filing deadline date. Exceptions to the deadline will not be granted.
Appeals for University Traffic Fines are processed through TigerPark on your MyMemphis Portal.
Student Financial Appeals Procedures
Any individual may appeal the assessment, application, calculation, collection, or interpretation of any University fee, charge, deposit, or refund. The University has developed the following processes for an appeal:
You may appeal any citation received at the Parking Office at 120 Zach Curlin Parking Garage. For your convenience, student appeals can also be filed online in TigerPark. Student Appeals are heard by the Student Government's Association. Faculty/Staff Appeals are heard by the Faculty/Staff Appeal Committee. Visitor Appeals are heard by the Parking Office Manager.
Appeals related to Residence Life financial matters must be submitted by the student within one year of the term in which the fee was made. Appeals should be filed with the office of Residence Life by emailing email@example.com The decision of the appeal will be emailed to the student within 1-2 weeks.
Tuition-Related University Fees/Charges, Refunds, etc.
The University's guideline explaining how to file an appeal is available online. Appeals must be submitted by the student within one year of the term in which the fee assessment was made.
Please read the procedures, and if your situation meets the criteria outlined, complete the request for appeal online. The Office of University and Student Business Services will provide a decision in writing via email to the appellant's University of Memphis email account. Decisions of the Office of University and Student Business Services may be appealed by contacting the Office of University and Student Business Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or 901-678-2712 within 10 calendar days of the decision.
The Executive Director of Student & Business Services will provide a decision in writing of those matters appealed to that office. This decision may be appealed to the University Fee/Refund Appeals Committee. The recommendation of the committee will be forwarded to the Chief Financial Officer for a final decision, which will conclude the University's appeal process.
If you have already submitted an appeal to the Office of University and Student Business Services, The Executive Director of Student & Business Services, or the University's Fee/Refund Appeals Committee, you may check the status of your appeal by e-mailing email@example.com.
