Interns

Shelby Peel (advisor: Dr. Paquette)

Shelby is from Port Charlotte, Florida. She is currently in her last semester at the University of Memphis earning a Bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Shelby plans on either attending physical therapy school where she would complete a doctorate in physical therapy or attend graduate school and work on a Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science. Her goal is to work with collegiate and professional athletes in injury prevention and rehabilitation. She loves to cheer on her Florida Gators and Memphis Tigers. She also loves to work on her ukulele skills.

Internship: As part of her internship, Shelby will be assisting in the data collection for many of the current research studies being conducted at the University of Memphis such as the MSM supplementation study, the foot strike variability and running injuries study, and the foot wear and agility study.

Stefan Kirkland (advisor: Dr. Schilling)Stefan is from Collierville, Tennessee. He is currently working earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Exercise and Sports Science through the Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s program at the University of Memphis. His research interests are in the biomechanical and physiological work demands in military and law enforcement personnel. He plays competitive rugby for a team of which he also serves as the strength and conditioning coach.

Internship: As part of his internship, Stefan will be assisting in the data collection for the MSM supplementation study being conducted at the University of Memphis as well as insuring the University of Memphis’s Exercise and Sports Science undergraduate curriculum meets the Bachelor’s credentials from the American College and Sports Medicine.
