The Department of Biological Sciences emphasizes the integrative nature of the biological sciences, focusing on programs that unite five major areas: Biology Education Research; Cellular & Molecular Biology; Ecology, Evolution, & Conservation Biology; Genetics, Genomics, & Bioinformatics; and Physiology & Behavior.

In order to be considered for admission in the Department of Biological Sciences Graduate Program, applicants must have identified a prospective mentor by contacting faculties whose research interests match theirs. The applicant must ask the prospective mentor to upload a mentor letter on the application website, as instructed on this website. In addition, the applicant should ask the prospective mentor to email this mentor letter to: oskalli@memphis.edu.
