The Different Stages

A Peltier stage can be used on the XL30 ESEM to change the specimen temperature from 0oC to 37oC. This can be used to perform dynamic heating and cooling experiments within the SEM chamber while observing real-time changes in the specimen structure. It may be useful to study biological samples and polymers as well as dynamic processes.

The heating stage can be used to change the specimen temperature from 37oC to 1000oC. With this stage it is possible to perform dynamic observations of phase transitions and microstructural changes with respect to temperature and obtain information useful for materials research.
