Welcome from the Dean

On behalf of the School of Health Studies, I would like to welcome you to our homepage and to our school. We are home to close to 40 full time faculty and staff members, complemented by approximately 40 adjunct (part-time) faculty members. Our personnel are leaders in their respective disciplines, publishing their research findings in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, and receiving national and international recognition for their work.

Our seven academic disciplines (Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition, Environmental Nutrition, Exercise Science, Healthcare Leadership, Health Sciences/Health Promotion, Nutrition Science, and Physical Education Teacher Education) are home to approximately 1200 undergraduate and graduate students. We strongly encourage students to go beyond the typical educational requirements and get involved in extracurricular activities that will help to support their learning and overall development, such as internships, majors clubs, special projects, and participation in faculty directed research studies.

We constantly seek to improve the service that we provide to students and I welcome all feedback that you might have to help assist us in this goal. If I can personally be of service to you, please contact me directly at

I thank you for your interest in our programs and I wish the best in your educational pursuits.

With regards,

Richard J. Bloomer
