UC Information Desk Assistant Job Description

Job Purpose

  • Performs activities related to overseeing the daily operations of the University Center, Rose Theater, and all Conference & Event Services spaces.


Essential Functions

  • Answers inquiries about the University by phone, in person, and by email; responds to problems and needs.

  • Maintains displays of informational materials from university departments and Registered Student Organizations.

  • Organizes the University Center’s lost and found.

  • Observes the Atrium to identify guests who may need help, address inappropriate behavior, report all maintenance and custodial issues, etc.

  • Properly report and document all concerns and issues to Management and in the shift log.

  • Assist House Crew and Performance Technicians as needed.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

  • Must be familiar with the university and its various departments.

  • Ability to display strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully.

  • Must be able to use a computer and a phone effectively.

  • Must be able to work autonomously.
