Each year more than 1,000 high school students demonstrate their knowledge of world languages and cultures at the Annual Language Fair at the University of Memphis. The students compete in a variety of contests, including poetry recitation, writing, costumes, folk dance, drama, music, projects, crafts, and a culture bowl. Competitive events are conducted in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, and Spanish.
PLEASE NOTE— Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the 2021 Language Fair has been postponed, but an online World Language Expo highlighting the importance of world language education worldwide and in the MidSouth, will be held April 12-16.
