Dean Joshi Speaks at Determined to be a Doctor Someday Symposium

August 19, 2023 - Dr. Ashish Joshi, Dean of the School of Public Health, spoke on a panel with other local doctors to over 100 students at the Determined to Be A Doctor Someday Symposium. This annual event introduces high schoolers from underrepresented communities in Memphis and northern Mississippi career pathways in the health field. Dean Joshi and the other panelists answered questions about why they chose their field and what their motivation was and is. The students had the opportunity to experience the panel’s wisdom and insight on how to persevere as they begin their own journeys. As the students rotated through breakout sessions, they had the opportunity to hear from our SPH Student Ambassadors, Ms. Serena Gonzales and Mr. Ricky Ogburn, about their experiences at the School of Public Health and how they can make a community impact through the field of public health. The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator, Mrs. Briana McNeil and Mrs. Katherine Shorter, the Communications and Events Coordinator were in attendance to answer questions and share more information about the school and its vast offerings throughout the event.
