Sanction Guidelines

Students enrolled at The University of Memphis are citizens of their civic communities as well as the academic community. As such they are expected to conduct themselves as law-abiding members of the University at all times. Admission to the University of Memphis carries with it special privileges and imposes special responsibilities apart from those rights and duties enjoyed by non-students. In recognition of the special relationship that exists between the University and the academic community which it seeks to serve, the President of the University of Memphis is authorized to take such action as may be necessary to maintain campus conditions and preserve the integrity of the University and its educational environment. The community of scholars at The University of Memphis is committed to the development of personal and academic excellence. The essence of a university is the pursuit, dissemination and application of knowledge. Members of the University of Memphis community should engage vigorously in the University's academic life. As voluntary members of the University community, students are expected to act with civility towards others in order to foster and promote an educational environment conducive to the University's mission.
