Because I am involved...I am more sociable.  Being a part of organizations, such as SAC and Black Scholars Unlimited has caused me to meet and interact with so many different people from various organizations on campus.  My involvement enhanced my leadership skills, opened me up to new opportunities, and helped to build meaningful and lasting friendships with others who are also involved.

Because I am involved...I have become a better me. Involvement has allowed me to learn more about myself as well as my new home, The University of Memphis. Choosing the U of M was one of the best decisions I ever made and from that decision I have been able to join a community of diverse students that make up a body that is perfect for growth and development. Student Activities Council, Frosh Camp, and PAUSE...just to state a few have allowed me to become not only a better leader, follower, and individual - but a better Tiger!

Because I am involved...I am a positive force on campus. As the University Traditions chair of Student Activities Council, I get to meet new students all the time. I have the opportunity to act as a role model for students desiring to be involved while growing as a leader. I have obtained time management, networking and budgeting skills through my involvement. No other experience can compare to what I have learned and gained as a student leader.

Because I am involved...I am learning skills that will make a difference in not only my life but others as well. I am learning to better my time management, my communication skills, and professional skills in general. I have learned that there is always an open door. Ideas are always welcome. Coming to the University of Memphis has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The Student Activities Council is made up of some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. Being an Emerging Leader, I have engaged myself into my school to feel it as a part of me.  College is not a part of your life where you should just go to class, graduate, and get out. Get the most out of your time here, and GET INVOLVED!!
