Social Justice Initiatives
Student Leadership and Involvement's area of Leadership & Service seeks to provide
Social Justice Programming to the University of Memphis community to help students
explore critical social issues through an intercultural lens. This programming will
seek to empower students to challenge injustice and pursue equity in today's world.
Specifically, these programs will seek to encourage ongoing dialogue about the intersections
of students' identity with other social identities, provide avenues for advocacy around
pertinent issues affecting a multitude of communities, and to educate the campus and
local communities on the richness of racial histories and cultures. This area also
organizes opportunities for students to learn with and serve local communities in
ways that deepen their knowledge of and support all cultures.
For information on any of these offerings, please contact Cheree Copeland Terrell at bccplndt@memphis.edu
