Position title: Research Associate, Vitalant Research Institute 

Campus location: Memphis, TN

Time commitment: Appx. 20 hours/week, possibly more depending on candidate’s availability and study needs

Start date: Available now

Project: Understanding Community Perspectives and Participation in Blood Donation in Memphis, TN

Minimum position qualifications:  Master's or Doctoral Students

Description: The research associate will assist Dr. Shana D. Hughes with a multi-phase, mixed methods research study focused on understanding motivations, barriers and experiences among blood donors and non-donors in the Memphis metro. Responsibilities will vary but may include assisting with recruitment and scheduling of research participants; qualitative data collection, management, and analysis; disbursing and documenting research incentives; literature review for funding applications and scholarly publications; interfacing with community partners, etc. The ideal candidate will possess a master’s degree in a social science discipline and have experience with qualitative and “mixed methods” research. Interest and familiarity with health disparities/health equity research and/or transfusion medicine a plus.
