Proposal Submission Platform

The Division of Research and Innovation began a process in 2014 to support the growth of sponsored programs, improve the efficiency and transparency of research administration, and automate outdated systems. In order to achieve these goals, the Division of Research and Innovation is collaborating with IT in leading a team to implement an electronic research administration (eRA) software installation.

The eRA (also called Cayuse) is a proposal submission platform for all applications. There are three components of the eRA.

If you need any help with the application process, Division of Research and Innovation staff is available to help train new users every week day in the Administration Building room #315 during normal office hours Monday through Friday 3:00pm-4:00pm.

The three parts of Cayuse that we use are:

  • Cayuse SP is the main platform used for all proposals and includes electronic routing
  • Cayuse 424 is used for submitting grants directly to grants.gov
  • Cayuse IRB is used for all requests for IRB consideration

Throughout spring and fall 2016, staff and faculty tested a new eRA system, Cayuse Research Suite (commonly called Cayuse), that will track, route and manage all of the steps of a sponsored project lifecycle, from pre-award to post-award.  In addition, we have purchased Cayuse IRB, which manages initial IRB protocol submissions, modifications, reportable events, and continuing reviews all in one place.

This webpage will serve as the launching pad for the software.

Your Proposal Specialist (assigned by departments) will guide through your proposal submission.  If your department or unit is not listed, please email CayuseSupport@memphis.edu.

If you have any questions about Cayuse at the University of Memphis, please email us at  CayuseSupport@memphis.edu.
