Graduate Students TEP Admissions

All graduate students pursuing a teacher license must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) by the end of their first semester in order to move forward to restricted courses. Not being admitted to TEP at the appropriate time could result in delaying graduation and/or not meeting certification requirements. Candidates with degrees in the following content areas: English, math, science, history or world languages will not be required to take or pass Praxis Content exams. All others must take and pass the Praxis II content knowledge exam. To be admitted into the Teacher Education Program (TEP), a graduate candidate must: 

  • submit a Graduate TEP Application>
  • have a 3.0 graduate GPA
  • pass their Praxis II Content Exam (Note: Candidates with degrees in the following: English, math, science, history, or World Languages will not be required to take or pass Praxis Content exams.)
  • have a cleared TBI background check > on file in the Office of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice.
