Look Up Classes: Tips

Below are some tips for navigating the selection fields and selecting multiple options when using Look Up Classes to build your course schedule.

Select Multiple Items within One Field

Sometimes you may want to select several options, but not all. Look Up Classes allows you to select either a block of items or several individual items.

To Select a Block of Items:

  1. Click on the first item you want.
  2. Scroll to the last item.
  3. Hold down the Shift key.
  4. Click on the last item.
All items will be highlighted (selected).

To Select Multiple Items:

  1. Click on the first item you want.
  2. Scroll to another item.
  3. Hold down the Ctrl key.
  4. Click the item.
Both items will be highlighted (selected).
Select as many items as you want using this process.

Reduce Scrolling Through Long Lists

This works for any field that has an extensive list of selections. It is particularly helpful for the Subject and Instructor fields.

To avoid scrolling down a long list to find your desired selection:

  1. Click in the list box itself.
  2. Type the first letter of the selection you want. For example, in the Subject list type "J" if you want Journalism. This will take you to the "J" Subjects; you will be able to find Journalism by scrolling down just a little further.

Select ALL or Several Subjects

To select ALL Subjects:

  1. Click on the first Subject.
  2. Scroll to the last Subject.
  3. Hold down the Shift key.
  4. Click on the last Subject.
All Subjects will be highlighted (selected).

To select Multiple Subjects:

  1. Click on a Subject you want.
  2. Scroll to another Subject.
  3. Hold down the Ctrl key.
  4. Click the Subject.
Both Subjects will be highlighted (selected).
Select as many subjects as you want using this process.
