MEMPHIS LAW ADVOCACY TEAMS WIN REGIONAL COMPETITIONS
Following a long tradition of success, several Memphis Law Advocacy teams were successful in regional competitions in early 2023.
Memphis Law hosted Region 8 of the National Trial Competition in early February and the Memphis Law National Trial Team - comprised of Peyton Barrow (2L), Annika Rush (2L), Kelsey McClain (2L), and Cody Tolbert (2L), and coached by Brigid Welsh, Ashley Finch, and Katie Ferguson - with the team of Mr. Barrow and Ms. Rush named Region 8 CHAMPIONS. They will head to the National Competition in March 2023.
Chairing the event itself was Memphis Law student Harley Chapman, who oversaw the competition alongside fellow students Alanna Rice, Madison Bennett Greene, Julie Chapman, and Professor Barbara Kritchevsky. Numerous law students volunteer attorneys, law school faculty members, and legal community members were instrumental to the successful competition.
Additionally, the Memphis Law BLSA Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Advocacy Team of Jaske Goff and Iasia Peoples (and coached by Jarrett Spence) are also headed to Nationals after taking home 3rd place and winning Best Brief at the Southern Region of the Black Law Students Association ("SRBLSA") Conference and Competition.
Our Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial team (Anthony Self, Alfred Dexter Dyson, Alexia McDermott, and Andie Adkins) performed well too, placing 5th in the region.
