2017 Dean's Award for Advising Excellence
Amanda Lee Savage started advising at UM in 2011, and teaches courses in early US history. She co-chaired the Academic Advising Network in 2015-16, and sat on the AAN executive committee for 2016-17. She is particularly interested in the "non-academic" challenges students face. As a result she co-founded Clio's Closet, now called Tiger Pantry, which was a food pantry and clothing closet for students facing any sort of need.
Additionally, Ms. Savage works closely with the Student Veteran Organization and SafeZone, and participates in programs designed to support first generation college students. She also advises the Student History Society.
